My Approach

Whole-Person, Root-Cause Care

Areté combines the strengths of evidence-based functional, holistic and conventional medicine to take a comprehensive approach to understanding your health wherever you are in adulthood.

Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, I use a systems-based approach to identify patterns and contributing factors that influence how you feel and function, including sleep, nutrition, physical activity, stress, hormones, and other factors that shape overall health at every stage of life not only during perimenopause and menopause, but in the years leading up to it and beyond.

By identifying underlying contributors and addressing the full picture of your health, I create personalized care plans designed to relieve symptoms, optimize well-being, reduce chronic disease risk, and support long-term performance, healthy aging, and vitality. PERIMENOPAUSE & MENOPAUSE

The symptoms that bring most women in.

Hot flashes. Night sweats. Disrupted sleep. Vaginal dryness or painful sex. Mood changes that feel tied to shifting hormones. Brain fog, fatigue, weight changes, low libido, irregular cycles, and a sense that your body is no longer responding the way it used to.

These symptoms are real, and they are not always simple.

IT'S NOT ALWAYS JUST HORMONES

Good care doesn't assume a single cause.

Hormonal shifts overlap with thyroid, sleep, stress, and metabolic factors. Areté evaluates the full picture, so care reflects what's actually driving your symptoms — more on how I approach it.

FOR THE ACTIVE WOMAN

You've trained through hard things. This is a different kind of hard.

This isn't a fitness problem. It's a physiology problem.

The changes of perimenopause and menopause affect strength, recovery, metabolism, and resilience. Sleep disruption and daily life demands add further strain.

At Areté, I look at training, recovery, nutrition, hormones, and metabolic health together, so you can understand what's driving change and move forward with clarity.

About the Clinician

Hi, I'm Michelle.

I'm a dual board-certified nurse practitioner (AGACNP-BC, FNP-BC), and I spent a decade in critical care and hospitalist medicine before building Areté.

Critical care and hospitalist medicine teach you to hold complexity, move fast when it matters, and never anchor too early on a single diagnosis. That instinct doesn't leave you, it just becomes the way you think through every patient.

I hold additional training through the Institute for Functional Medicine, the Menopause Society, and other specialized programs in women's physiology and hormone health, training that builds the clinical foundation this work actually requires.
