Recovery & adaptation
Training no longer produces the same recovery curve. Fatigue accumulates more easily, and consecutive stress becomes harder to absorb.

Performance and Recovery
Integrative medicine for active women navigating perimenopause, menopause, and midlife physiology, designed to support training, recovery, and long-term health.
How I work with you
Care integrates hormones, recovery, sleep, nutrition, body composition, performance, and cardiometabolic health, interpreted together, not in isolation.
Included in your Areté membership, no separate program fee.
Why this exists
Recovery takes longer. Sleep is less reliable. Training no longer produces the same response.
This reflects a shift in physiology, not effort or discipline.
Midlife hormonal and metabolic changes affect strength, recovery, sleep, and adaptation. Care should reflect that shift.
The physiology of midlife performance
Hormonal changes through perimenopause and menopause reshape how your body trains, recovers, sleeps, and adapts. Naming what's happening is the first step to a plan that actually works.
Training no longer produces the same recovery curve. Fatigue accumulates more easily, and consecutive stress becomes harder to absorb.
Lean mass becomes harder to maintain, and fuel utilization changes even when training and nutrition stay consistent.
Sleep disruption, energy variability, and altered stress tolerance affect consistency, output, and recovery.
What clinical care looks like
Labs interpreted in the context of performance, recovery, and midlife physiology, not isolated reference ranges.
Identification of energy availability issues that are commonly missed in standard care.
Hormonal changes are interpreted in the context of sleep, recovery, body composition, and training adaptation.
Sleep, HRV, and training trends reviewed alongside symptoms and labs, never in isolation.
Midlife physiology changes affect long-term metabolic and cardiovascular health, even in active women.
Evidence-based hormone therapy guided by symptoms, goals, risk profile, and current clinical guidelines.
Muscle, bone density, recovery capacity, and metabolic health supported for long-term performance.
Who this is for
Frequently asked questions
No. Performance and Recovery care focuses on the hormonal, metabolic, and physiological factors affecting how you train, recover, and adapt, not acute injury management, biomechanics, or rehab. If you need a sports medicine specialist or physical therapist, this care works alongside them, not in place of them.
When appropriate, yes. Hormonal changes are one of several factors evaluated as part of your full picture, alongside recovery, sleep, nutrition, and training load. If hormone therapy is indicated, it's prescribed and managed individually, using the same evidence-based approach used across Areté.
Functional and integrative medicine is the clinical approach behind everything Areté does: root-cause investigation, systems-based evaluation, individualized care. Performance and Recovery applies that same approach specifically to active women and athletes, with particular attention to training load, recovery capacity, and performance markers that standard care doesn't typically evaluate.
Every patient begins with a Discovery Call to talk through your training, goals, and what's changed. From there, care is delivered through Areté's membership, which includes the ongoing visits, lab review, and access needed to manage performance and recovery over time.
No. This care is built for active women broadly, endurance athletes, recreational lifters, and anyone whose training, recovery, or body composition has changed in ways standard care hasn't addressed, not only competitive athletes.
No. Performance and Recovery is included as part of the standard Areté membership, not a separate program or add-on fee. It's the same membership that covers your ongoing visits, labs, and messaging access, applied specifically to your training and recovery goals.
