Sleep Restore Program

The Sleep Restore Program: Insomnia & CBT-I Care, Colorado Telehealth.

Build lasting sleep with a comprehensive approach, not another quick fix.

If you've tried melatonin, magnesium, sleep hygiene tips, a new mattress, or even prescription sleep medication and you're still struggling, the answer may not be another sleep tip or another medication. Sleep is influenced by an interconnected system: your sleep habits, nervous system, body clock, medications, supplements, hormones, stress levels, and daily schedule.

The Sleep Restore Program provides a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to insomnia and sleep concerns through telehealth across Colorado. Combining Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), behavioral sleep principles, medication review, supplement guidance, and circadian rhythm strategies, this program helps you understand what is driving your sleep challenges and create a sustainable plan for improvement.

Sleep Restore Program

$1,500

8-week comprehensive program

Included at no additional cost for Areté members with 6+ months of continuous enrollment.

The Sleep Restore Program is for people who want their sleep addressed as a complete system, not one isolated piece. This is not simply sleep hygiene advice or a medication visit. It is a personalized treatment plan based on your sleep patterns, health history, medications, supplements, stressors, hormones, and lifestyle.

CBT-I is one of the core tools used throughout the program. Learn more about how CBT-I works.

Includes:

  • 60–90 minute comprehensive sleep evaluation
  • Seven follow-up visits
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I)
  • Sleep diary review throughout treatment
  • Medication review and management, with tapering when appropriate
  • Supplement review and evidence-based recommendations
  • Circadian rhythm assessment, light exposure, and melatonin timing strategies if indicated
  • Sleep apnea assessment and testing (WatchPAT) if indicated
  • Travel and shift-work planning, when needed
  • Cognitive and relaxation strategies for sleep-related anxiety
  • Secure messaging between visits
  • Personalized Sleep Plan to maintain progress long term

Every patient's plan is individualized. Some patients need primarily CBT-I, while others benefit from addressing medication use, circadian disruption, hormonal changes, stress, or lifestyle factors affecting sleep.

Initial Sleep Consultation

$375

60–90 minutes

A one-time comprehensive evaluation for individuals seeking expert guidance about their sleep, without committing to the full program.

During this visit, I'll review your sleep concerns with you, medical history, medications, supplements, and daily schedule to understand what's affecting your sleep. You'll leave with personalized recommendations and a clear treatment plan.

Includes:

  • Comprehensive sleep assessment
  • Medication review
  • Supplement review
  • Circadian rhythm assessment
  • Initial recommendations
  • Personalized next-step plan

If CBT-I is recommended, you can enroll in the Sleep Restore Program at any time.

Follow-Up Visit

$225

60 minutes

For established patients who need ongoing sleep care outside of the Sleep Restore Program.

Common reasons for follow-up include:

  • Medication management
  • Sleep troubleshooting
  • Circadian rhythm or schedule adjustments
  • Travel sleep planning
  • Shift-work support
  • Supplement review
  • Maintenance after completing the Sleep Restore Program

CBT-I works best delivered as a complete, structured course rather than a single visit, which is why it's included in the Sleep Restore Program rather than offered here.

Superbills are available upon request for all visits, which you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Home Sleep Apnea Testing (WatchPAT)

Think it might be sleep apnea, not just insomnia? Find out from home.

Not all sleep problems are insomnia. Snoring, gasping or choking during sleep, morning headaches, waking unrefreshed no matter how long you slept, or daytime sleepiness despite adequate time in bed can point toward obstructive sleep apnea, a condition that's common, frequently underdiagnosed in women, and not something CBT-I or sleep hygiene alone will fix.

WatchPAT is an FDA-cleared, at-home sleep apnea test that lets you skip the overnight sleep lab entirely. You wear three small sensors, on your chest, wrist, and fingertip, and sleep one night in your own bed. The device records your data overnight, and results are scored and interpreted by a board-certified sleep physician, with a full report I review with you to determine next steps.

Why This Matters for Aging Women and Altitude

If you're a woman living in Colorado, especially at elevation, two things stack the odds against you as you age: menopause itself is an independent risk factor for sleep apnea, separate from age or weight on their own, and living at higher elevation can alter breathing patterns during sleep and worsen or unmask it. Read the full research on menopause, altitude, and sleep apnea risk →

Why this matters

  • Comfort and accuracy: you sleep in your own bed, which better reflects your normal sleep than an unfamiliar lab room.
  • Speed: order to results typically within about a week, not the weeks-to-months wait common with lab-based studies.
  • Real interpretation, not just raw data: results are scored and interpreted by a board-certified sleep physician before you ever see them.
  • Integrated care: if apnea is identified, I build your treatment plan directly, whether that means CPAP ordering, oral appliance discussion, or addressing contributing factors as part of the Sleep Restore Program.

Who This Program Helps

Sleep support tailored to your situation.

Chronic Insomnia

If you've tried supplements, sleep hygiene strategies, and medications without lasting improvement, the Sleep Restore Program provides a structured approach to identify what is maintaining your insomnia and create a plan that addresses the root contributors.

Sleep Medication Questions

Many people are unsure whether their current sleep medication is still the best option. I work with patients taking medications such as zolpidem (Ambien), eszopiclone (Lunesta), benzodiazepines used for sleep, trazodone, other medications sometimes used off-label for sleep, and over-the-counter sleep aids such as diphenhydramine. Medication review includes discussing benefits, risks, alternatives, and goals. If reducing or tapering medication is appropriate, I create a thoughtful plan with you. When another clinician prescribes your medication, I coordinate with them before medication changes are made.

Women's Sleep Health

Sleep changes are common during pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, and menopause. Sleep disruption during these stages may overlap with hormonal changes, night sweats and hot flashes, mood changes, increased stress, and changes in sleep patterns. Pregnancy-related sleep concerns are addressed collaboratively with your OB or midwife to support safe, coordinated care if indicated.

Circadian Rhythm, Travel, and Shift Work Sleep

Your internal body clock plays an important role in sleep quality. I help patients develop strategies for jet lag recovery, international travel, shift work schedules, irregular sleep timing, light exposure planning, sleep schedule adjustments, and melatonin timing when appropriate.

Evidence-Based Sleep Supplement Guidance

Many people spend significant time and money trying supplements without knowing whether they are helping. Supplement review focuses on what the evidence supports, appropriate timing and use, potential medication interactions, and whether a supplement is actually addressing your sleep concern. The goal is not to add more products. It is to create a thoughtful, evidence-based plan.

Why work with me

A clinically grounded, whole-person approach to sleep.

I'm Michelle Mullins, AGACNP-BC, FNP-BC, a dual board-certified nurse practitioner and founder of Areté Women's Integrative Medicine. My approach combines medical evaluation, behavioral sleep strategies, medication expertise, and whole-person care. I have completed CBT-I-focused training through PESI and the University of Pennsylvania, additional CBT-I clinical training developed by Dr. Gregg Jacobs, an early researcher and contributor to the CBT-I treatment model, along with continuing education in sleep medicine pharmacology and clinical practice through the World Sleep Society and other sleep medicine education sources. Unlike approaches that focus only on medication or only on behavioral strategies, I integrate multiple evidence-based tools to create a personalized sleep plan based on your health, goals, and lifestyle.

What to expect

A personalized plan, adjusted throughout treatment.

I begin with a comprehensive sleep evaluation to understand your patterns, identify contributing factors, and determine the best treatment approach. Some patients begin with a standalone Initial Sleep Consultation, while others move directly into the Sleep Restore Program. Treatment is adjusted based on your progress, goals, and response throughout the process.

Frequently asked questions

Answers about the Sleep Restore Program.

Can I book CBT-I by itself?

CBT-I is offered as part of the Sleep Restore Program rather than as individual sessions. CBT-I works best when the full treatment process is completed with consistent support and adjustments over time.

Will you tell me to stop my sleep medication?

No. Medication decisions are individualized. If reducing medication is your goal, I develop a plan with you. When another clinician prescribes your medication, I coordinate with them before changes are made.

Do I need a sleep study before starting?

Not always. Many people with chronic insomnia can begin evaluation and treatment without a sleep study. If your symptoms suggest another sleep disorder, such as sleep apnea, snoring, gasping during sleep, or unrefreshing sleep despite adequate time in bed, an at-home WatchPAT sleep apnea test can be ordered directly through Areté, no in-network referral or sleep lab visit required. Learn more about WatchPAT home sleep apnea testing above.

Do I need to stop my supplements before starting?

No. Have a complete list of prescription medications, over-the-counter medications and supplements available so they can be reviewed together.
